Built from bomb crates, the ground crews built the link shacks so they didn’t have to trek miles back to get rest after completing maintenance/repairs

Notes: Runways were incredibly difficult to construct b/c they had to hold up under 60,000 pound bombers at takeoff and landing.

Notes: Believe this was the cart used to bring bombs? Either way, unconventional way to transport men. I see mostly ground crews.

Notes: 392nd had a winch for the heavier bombs, but they said it took too long so they usually loaded bombs by hand. Man at back of trailer would attach tail fin, which is secured by ring collar screwed onto threads of bomb. 4 men by waist are using…
