Trolley Missions
Title
Trolley Missions
Description
The Trolley Missions were flown after VE Day for ground crews to see the outcome of their efforts after 29 months of combat. Many were at Shipdham for the duration of war, working around the clock to get planes and bombs ready to hit hte continent, but they'd never seen the impacts of those efforts.
The Trolley Missions were half-day "sightseeing" tours of the continent - flown by aircrews, carrying ground crews instead of bombs - to view the extent of the destruction. These photos were captured on one such flight.
