Winner of Sweetheart Competition Feb 14, 1945
Notes: 14th of the month, Valentine’s day dance- sweetheart of 44th was selected - contest where wives and sweethearts of men submitted from 1-11 of month. Photos posted for 3 days and men voted by ballot. Night of 14th, winner selected and named sweetheart of 44th. 3 year old Ira Lee Growden- daughter of Growden in 66th. Growden flew 14 missions. First mission was on 2/14/45. What a way to celebrate being alive afterwards.
